The leaves are falling and it’s time for a few November home tips to maintain your home and prepare for the holiday season.

  1. Prepare your faucets and pipes for the upcoming cooler weather. We never know when a freeze will occur in Texas since our weather doesn’t always follow the traditional seasons. November is a good time to remove your exterior hoses and cover your faucets. Faucet covers are easy to install and these covers from Walmart are less than $3 each.
  2. Testing your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors is crucial before the winter months. Between all the holiday baking, wood-burning fires, and space heaters, you want to ensure your home and family are protected. It’s a great time to replace the batteries in each device, and if you’ve owned the house for 5-10 years, you should consider replacing them with a newer model.
  3. Whether you like to decorate at the beginning of November or after Thanksgiving it’s a good idea to look over your holiday decorations to see which items need to be repaired or replaced.
  4. Refresh your kitchen appliances and bakeware. The holiday season is the perfect time to declutter and update kitchen items.
  5. Black Friday Deals for your Home and Kitchen, I love the Drew Barrymore collection from Walmart. It’s also a great time to update your small kitchen appliances, linens, and holiday decor.
